Trip overview

Kathmandu - Zangmu - Nyalam - Thingri – Base Camp (BC) – Advanced Base Camp (ABC) -

North Col (NC) - Summit – Nyalam - Kathmandu

Why go there?

Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world. Its elevation of 29,030 feet (8,848 meters) was determined using GPS satellite equipment on May 5, 1999. The new elevation has been confirmed by the National Geographic Society. (Chomolungma, Goddess Mother of the World).

Everest in Tibet straddles the east section of Nepal/Tibet border, with its northern side lying in the Tingri Country. The highest mountain in the world attracts many well-experienced mountaineers as well as novice climbers who are willing to pay substantial sums to professional mountain guides to complete a successful climb. The mountain, while not posing substantial technical climbing difficulty on the standard route (other eight-thousands such as K2 or Nanga Parbat are much more difficult), still has many inherent dangers such as altitude sickness, weather and wind.

The route is complex and difficult and the summit day long and tiring but the allure of climbing the Everest from the Tibet side is always magical.
